My Family and I are gratified by the wise ruling made by Judge Marina Garcia-Wood which vindicated our family. She sat patiently for four days and heard testimony about how no one has ever been injured while attending our holiday display. We have had thousands of people, including hundreds of plantation families come and celebrate the Joy of the Holiday Season with us. Judge Garcia-Wood sent a strong message to the Mayor and my Opponent that this meritless action should have never been filed.
There has never been any evidence to support the meritless claim that our holiday display has ever been a public safety hazard. Instead of supporting a holiday display that has brought smiles to hundreds of Plantation children, the Mayor and my Opponent decided to waste hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars bringing this spiteful action. This is an example of the “Culture of Intimidation” practiced by the Mayor and my Opponent towards Plantation Residents.
I stood up against the Politicians for all Plantation Residents. This Victory is for all Plantation Residents and a loss for the Plantation Politicians. We run this City not intimidating ungrateful and entitled Politicians.
My Opponent has the gall to quote an opinion by one of the editorial writers of the Sun Sentinel that I don’t care about the interests of my neighbors. One of the neighbors, who was a friend of mine, before we had a disagreement, totally unrelated to the holiday display, made it his personal mission to shut down our display.
Some of my neighbors have always been very supportive of the display. In fact, Judge Garcia-Wood heard testimony from one of my neighbors about how great the display was. Unfortunately my opponent, did not take the time to talk to this gentlemen before approving hundreds of thousands of tax payer dollars being paid to our No Bid Lawyers to bring this meritless lawsuit.
Finally, my Family and I have been so grateful for the outpouring of support from our fellow Plantation Residents. I think it is time for the Mayor and the City Council to re-examine the relationship is has with it’s lawyers. I am sure my opponent will claim he was just following the advice of the City Lawyers. That advice cost the City hundreds of Thousands of Tax Payer dollars for nothing. I favor spending those dollars on projects that enrich our residents. My Opponent disagrees and favors enriching lawyers.
